The Floyd family of health care services has responded to the health needs of Rome and surrounding communities in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama since 1942.

More than six decades ago a group of men with the vision to build a community hospital for the citizens of Floyd County set about making the dream a reality.

Lead by Dr. W.H. Lewis, the Floyd County Board of Revenues took its vision to the people who readily embraced the idea.

Built by county labor and funded by the citizens of Floyd County, what was then called Floyd Hospital opened its doors on July 4, 1942.

Since its beginning as a 70-bed pavilion style structure, Floyd has continued a tradition of care by adding services, building new facilities and offering the latest in medical technology. Today, Floyd serves six counties as a 304-bed acute care hospital and regional referral center with more than 400,000 patient encounters annually.
