Students can gain clinical experience in family medicine — including its philosophy of holistic care, goals and practice objectives — that will help in career decisions through our clerkship and internship opportunities.

At Floyd, students will learn the opportunities available to a family physician, the continuity of care and awareness of the many patient situations. Our program provide students hands-on experience through on-call opportunities at least once per week. Students follow the on-call schedule below:

• Third-year: 5:30 p.m. - midnight; relieved of their duties by noon the following day.
• Fourth-year: 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.; relieved of their duties by 6:30 a.m. and are off the remainder of the day following call.

Our program offers many unique experiences that will help you get the most out of your rotations at Floyd. We are here to help you learn and gain the experience you need to continue your goal of becoming a physician.

How to apply

• Students at one of the following schools should contact their Clerkship Coordinator.
  • Emory University
  • Medical College of Georgia
  • Mercer University School of Medicine
  • Morehouse School of Medicine
    
  • Philadelphia College of Osteopahtic Medicine (Georgia Campus)
• Students at all other medical schools should complete an application before July 1.

The ideal candidate for our program is a student committed to the practice of family medicine as a career. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or have a student visa.
